The 'Twitter-verse' erupted yesterday with tweets claiming that FSU Quarterback Jameis Winston yelled an obscene and vulgar comment in front of FSU's HCB Building.

As a result of the offensive and derogatory comment, Winston quickly felt the consequences of making that particular statement.

Today Winston had to make a public apology for his actions.

"First of all I just want to apologize to the university, to my coaches and to my teammates... I'm not a 'me' person, but in that situation, that was a selfish act...and that's not how you do things around here, so I really just want to apologize to my teammates because I've now made a selfish act for them and that's all."

The obscene comment that Winston made apparently comes from an Internet meme that has gained popularity on college campuses.

However Winston will be suspended for the first half of the game versus Clemson this Saturday.

Back up quarterback Sean Maguire will be playing in Winston's place during that time.

"...Me and Sean, we're going to watch film and I'm going to try my best to put our team in a good chance to win this game," says Winston.

Interim FSU president Garnett Stokes and athletics director Stan Wilcox sent out a statement in regards to the matter.

"As the university's most visible ambassadors, student-athletes at Florida State are expected to uphold at all times high standards of integrity and behavior that

reflect  well upon themselves, their families, coaches, teammates, the Department of Athletics and Florida State University..."

"Student-athletes are expected to act in a way that  reflects dignity and respect for others."
