One wave rider is thankful just to have her leg this morning after a great white shark nearly got its teeth into it when the jet skier rode too close.
Libby Williams posted the video of she and a friend having fun on their jet skis off of Fraser Island in southern Queensland when they spot a shark swimming near them.
Intrigued, Williams rides closer to the shark as it begins to swim away.
But in the blink of an eye, the big shark turns and launches out of the water, aiming at the jet ski and William’s leg.
"I literally had to move my leg so it didn't get mauled," she wrote in her Facebook post.
"Notice the lack of screams? I think I must have been too scared,” she continued, “I was ready to head home after that!”
Daryl McPhee, a Bond University shark expert who IDed the shark as a great white, states that the huge fish are known for being around Fraser Island and Ungowa Creek, where Williams was exploring.
"They are not always aggressive, but just like a lot of people, I guess it thought the jet ski was annoying," he adds, “I don't think it thought they were lunch. I think it was the shark being annoyed and it telling the source of annoyance to go away."
Thankfully, no one was injured but the jet ski did suffer some cosmetic injuries.
William’s scary video has been more than 180,000 times already.
