WDBO is mourning the passing of one of its own.

Central Florida News 13 anchor Scott Harris, who had two stints with WDBO in the 1980's and '90's, has died after a battle with kidney cancer.

Harris died Monday morning. He was 64.

Harris was well known in the area having spent his entire 40 year journalism career in Central Florida.

Scott left WDBO in 1997 to join the launch of Central Florida News 13.

"Scott was a true news man – dedicated and hardworking," says WDBO News Director Marsha Taylor. " He knew everyone in town and treated everyone he dealt with with respect and courtesy.  We’ve lost a good deal with his passing."

Harris was an Edgewater High and UCF graduate. He was also veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a fixture in Orlando media his entire career.

"Scott Harris had an unmatched passion and intellect. He was a smart, funny, talented colleague and we will miss him so very much here at News 13. He was also a trusted and valued friend. Our hearts are aching,” said Robin Smythe on the cable station's website.  Smythe is the Vice-President/General Manager of Central Florida News 13.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
