Lockdown lifted from Glenridge Middle School on lockdown after tip about gun on campus

2:15pm LOCKDOWN LIFTED. Per OPD: The magazine found is from a .22 caliber gun. No gun was located. Based on the circumstances, about 30 Orlando Police officers responded to the school. A methodical search of the premises, each classroom, each locker, and each student was conducted. Nothing was located. Other students indicated they had not heard of any rumors about a possible shooting. The extensive search ended at about 2pm today and the school is no longer on lock down. There are no injuries and all of the students and faculty are safe.

The investigation will continue into the call, the threats, and the finding of the loaded magazine. The Orlando Police Department will increase security for the school. Specific security measures will not be disclosed.

12:00 noon: Glenridge Middle School is on lockdown after an anonymous tip that someone may have brought a gun on campus, according to Orlando police.

According to police, an electronic communication from a student said that there would be a gun on campus.

Another student reported seeing someone put what they thought was a weapon in a trash can.

Police said a loaded magazine for a gun was found in a trash can, but no firearm has been found. The magazine contained .22 caliber bullets.

Police have the school on lockdown while they continue their search for a weapon. They said they won't lift the lockdown until the school has been thoroughly searched, and each student checked.
