Orange County Sheriff deputies say a man attempting to steal copper from a light pole along State Road 408 was electrocuted.
The body was discovered by a Duke Energy worker around 9:45 Friday morning along the eastbound side of the highway near Good Homes Road.
Deputies said the man, whose name was not released, cut a cable and was electrocuted. He was found holding a pair of pliers and wires and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Duke Energy officials say they were notified of an outage and the worker out on repair found the body. A Sheriff's office investigation is continuing.
