Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer lit the 72-foot Christmas tree at Lake Eola park, launching Orlando's Downtown for the Holidays celebration.
At least a hundred people joined in the festivities at the bandshell stage.
The event featured a Mass choir, food-truck bazaar and a lakeside viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
The Christmas tree’s 88,000 lights impressed a lot of guests at the event.
“The tree looks amazing,” said one attendee, “I’m glad I got to see it before they turned the lights off!”
Holiday themed events will continue at Lake Eola park through December 26th.
