Popular news outlet Mediaite claims that The New York Times Magazine's selection of an angry-looking photo of Fox News host Sean Hannity for an in-depth profile confirms his belief of a "liberal bias" in media.
Mediaite's Colby Hall writes that the actual piece about the "conservative firebrand" paints him in a "remarkably fair and humanizing manner." Hall says it reveals that Hannity is "actually a real human being who was raised in a manner that logically brought him to his current political beliefs."
So the perceived controversy isn't over the writing but the Times' photo selection. Hall says the cover shot portrays Hannity as the classic "Angry Conservative" which reinforces a caricature that readers may already believe to be true.
According to a source in attendance at the November 8th photo shoot conducted at Fox News offices, the supposed "aggrieved Hannity" shot used as the cover was only posed by Hannity as a joke with the photographer. As is the case with these sorts of shoots, there were likely hundreds, if not thousands, of pictures taken. And only one of those images depicted a self-aware Hannity playing the part of angry conservative — ostensibly mocking how he assumed he'd be portrayed by what he sees as a liberally biased outlet. Turns out he was right." -Colby Hall
Even Sean Hannity himself chimed in on the picture:

Hannity then agreed with Mediaite's Hall:
