MetLife blimp will not be over MetLife Stadium for the Super Bowl

MetLife Blimp

In fact there will not be any blimp at the big game, which means no high aerial coverage for those watching at home.

Blimps have become synonymous with the Super Bowl and it's as painful for MetLife, as a pick six would be for Peyton Manning, to not have it's own blimp at it's own stadium for the biggest game of the year.  However, the weather this time off the year makes it to difficult to fly a blimp and could be dangerous.

"€œIt'€™s all the stuff that surrounds cold weather, the conditions that happen to make snow, ice, even rain," MetLife spokesman Shane Winn said. "€œAll of those things add to the risk of flying because they can add considerable weight to the airships. It makes flights treacherous."

A MetLife spokesperson told the New York Newsday,  that it has known it wouldn't have a blimp at the New York area'€™s first Super Bowl since the game was announced.
