NTSB report details problems that led to plane crash near DeLand

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The NTSB has released its report on a plane crash that sent a 75-year-old man to the hospital.

Investigators said the crash happened during a flight test near DeLand airport last May.

The flight instructor took control when the sensor for the engine oil temperature went off.

The plane landed immediately before hitting a ditch and then flipped over.

The flight instructor said he experienced a similar problem before the crash due to a cracked engine case.

He said he was concerned the engine would catch on fire because of the high oil temperature.
