NYC rat attacks, kills pigeon in shocking video

You can go ahead and file this under the 'I don't want to look but I can't stop staring' category. 

A video of a vicious rat in New York City attacking and biting a pigeon is making the internet rounds. 

According to the Daily Mail, John Freund filmed the brutal attack, which happened on the streets of Brooklyn, and then posted the video to YouTube. The massive rodent can be seen latching on to the pigeon's neck as it desperately tries to flap its wings to get away. The relentless rat holds on tight, dragging its victim across the walkway. 

'Rat versus pigeon,' a man is heard saying off screen. 'Who will win?'

The pigeon breaks away for a moment but is quickly recaptured by the hungry rat in a true 'survival of the fittest' showdown.

'Run, run pigeon!' bystanders are heard screaming. 

Despite the pigeon's supporters, it ends up succumbing to its inevitable fate and is dragged away into some bushes.

The video has more than 1 million views on Facebook.
