Online threat prompts lockdown of St. Cloud High School

Officials with the Osceola County School district have confirmed to News 96.5 WDBO that the school was put on a precautionary lockdown Thursday afternoon, due to a violation of the districts social media policy.

The Saint Cloud police department is on the campus and has delayed dismissal of students by one hour.

Police said no one is being allowed in or out of the school.

A recorded message from the school’s principal was sent out to parents:

“We want to make parents aware that a new threat to campus security has just been posted on social media and we are working hand in hand with the St. Cloud Police Department to ensure the safety of all students and staff. At this time the school has been put into a lockdown and dismissal will be delayed approximately one hour, maybe more. At this time, all students are safe, and I will contact you again when are ready to dismiss the students,” the message said.
