Orange County Animal Services took in 98 animals Wednesday including 27 from a 73-year-old woman who realized she could not take care of them.
"Sometimes people start off with good intentions and they quickly become overwhelmed if their pets aren't spayed or neutered." said Carolina Devine from Orange County Animal Services.
On a normal day, the shelter received about 53 animals, the large number means there are about 200 adoptable animals now available.
Devine tells us that the adoption fee for what she calls "certified pre-owned pets" will be waived in the month of April.
This means "starting tomorrow any of those 27 puppies and small dogs that were surrendered can be asopted for free." Devine said.
