ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man died after he was struck twice in a hit-and-run crash in Pine Hills, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

FHP has identified the man as 64-year-old Charles Nathan Bartee.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, troopers said a white Toyota and a BMW were traveling southbound on Pine Hills Road when Bartee was attempting to cross the street.

Witness Bruce Glover, who said he’s also friends with Bartee, said he was on his way to work when he saw Bartee crossing as cars sped by.

“It all just happened...It went fast,” Glover recalled.

Troopers said the Bartee was struck by the front of the Toyota, which immediately left the scene without stopping. He was also struck by the BMW.

“When I looked at him, I didn’t know who it was,” Glover said. “I kept sitting there looking, and I said please don’t let it be.”

Troopers said Bartee was not in an intersection or at a crosswalk.

The driver of the BMW remained on scene and was able to provide troopers with the description of the suspect vehicle.

FHP announced late Thursday afternoon that an “alert” Orlando Citizen led them to the possible suspect vehicle, but they’re still trying to find the driver.

Anyone with information about the Toyota or the person who was driving it Wednesday is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 OR call Crimeline.
