Orlando fire chief booked, bonded out in North Carolina on assault charge

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orlando fire chief was booked in a North Carolina jail on Tuesday on a warrant and has since bonded out, court records show.

Orlando Fire Chief Benjamin Barksdale was involved in some kind of incident at a restaurant last month. Documents say the charge is assault on a woman.

Barksdale was initially suspended with pay after the warrant was issued in North Carolina, but has since been changed to suspended without pay, a city spokesperson said.

The change was made last week following the initial suspension and not as a result of the update on the case Tuesday, the spokesperson said.
