"A tragic accident," is how Orlando police describe the scene outside the Carter Tabernacle Church on So. Cottage Hill Road where Brandon Bristol, 26, a city garbage truck worker was apparently run over by the driver who was unaware of the accident until he left.
Residents seeing police and reporters gathered on street corners in disbelief when told what happened.
"The driver came back and realized that he posssibly run over the other worker," said OPD Sgt. Jim Young. He described the driver as "very distraught."
It happened before the sun rose this morning.
Police were still at the scene hours later, to determine exactly how the worker was killed.
City solid waste management is cooperating with the investigation.
We've learned the driver will have to undergo a mental evaluation befoer being allowed back behind the wheel of another truck.
