Orlando International Airport standoff suspect accepts plea deal

ORLANDO, FL — The man who caused a standoff at Orlando International Airport has accepted a plea deal, according to the Orange County Clerk of Courts.

26-year old Michael Pettigrew pleaded no contest, which means he accepts conviction as if it was a guilty plea, but doesn’t admit guilt. Court documents show he agreed to the plea deal on August 16th.

Pettigrew brought a gun to Orlando International Airport and threatened to harm himself, causing all inbound traffic to stop at the Airport in May. The standoff went on for three hours after he told an employee at a Mears Transportation counter that he had a gun.

Pettigrew will spend 10 months in jail, and one day of probation. The charges he pleaded no contest to include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement, and carrying a concealed weapon.
