Sharon Sheffey has her 15 employees and family to think about. She plans to reopen "Sharon's Place" in two to three months and said it will be bigger and better than ever, after an electrical fire in the attic left the place ruined.
She told News 96.5 that the owner of the strip shopping center has insurance to cover claims.
Sheffey said her kitchen was left intact, so she plans to use the down time to make it all new with stainless steel counters.
Some of her 15 employees gathered outside the diner, wondering how they will get by while their jobs are in limbo.
"My phone rang all morning," said one, who expressed hope that she can pay her bills.
Sheffey said some of the workers were planning a BBQ sale to raise funds for living expenses in the interim.
Sheffey, who opened her shop 24 years ago on April 1, said she's glad no one was injured, but admits it's "devastating" to think that she will have no place to go until repairs are completed.
She, her husband and two sons do most of the cooking, she said.
