A former sheriff's lieutenant with the Orange County Sheriff's Office is running to replace his former boss.
After spending more than 25 years with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Paul "Spike" Hopkins retired earlier this year to mount a campaign to replace Sheriff Jerry Demings.
On his facebook page Wednesday, Hopkins announced that he has filed the necessary paperwork to run and is soliciting donations.
He also has a campaign website, spikeforsheriff.net.
Orange County voters head to the polls next November.
