Miami-Dade, Fla. — Another reptile roundup in the Florida Everglades ended with the removal of a 17 feet, 9 inch Burmese python.
A member of the Python Action Team removed the python from Big Cypress Natural Preserve in the Everglades.
It's the second-largest snake ever removed by the team, which members are paid an extra $25 for every foot of invasive snake over 4 feet.
The longest python ever caught in Florida was an 18-foot-8-inch, 128-pound female, according to FWC.
The snakes are an invasive species and threaten the Everglades native wildlife.
Thanks to leadership from @GovRonDeSantis, our #Python Action Team is on a roll! This is the second largest #snake they have caught! Full story: https://t.co/xK721HvD8Z pic.twitter.com/Y9yEAzBIet
