A teenager may have been mistakenly released from the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center on Bumby Avenue.
Investigators said the 15-year-old hasn't been seen since Sunday evening, and set off a massive search.
For hours, deputies said they searched by ground and from the air for the teen. However, the search ended Monday, without success.
"You are wondering what is going on, if they are hiding behind the bushes or something. So, you have to be aware and have your guard up," said Orange County resident Zulma Suarez. "You see somebody; keep your doors locked and everything. Don't open your door to anybody."
Authorities have not released details on how the missing teen was able to slip through their fingers, but WFTV found out that it's likely the juvenile justice center may have let the wrong teenager out.
"If I see anything suspicious, I am going to call the cops right away," said Suarez.
The Department of Juvenile Justice said it was conducting an internal investigation.
The teen's name was not released.
