DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — On Friday, state inspectors are expected to continue assessing buildings in Volusia County that could be compromised following Tropical Storm Nicole.
So far, 49 structures throughout the county have been red-flagged for structural concerns.

On Thursday afternoon, Channel 9 watched as officers and deputies went door to door, evacuating hundreds of residents from high-rise structures along the surf in Daytona Beach Shores.

According to a list released by Volusia County, the 22 condo and hotel buildings, all along Highway A1A, range in height from two to 22 stories. They include:

Officials also ordered mandatory evacuations of these properties along New Smyrna Beach due to erosion concerns:
Sea Coast Gardens II Condominiums, 4151 S. Atlantic Ave., New Smyrna Beach (5 stories) Two easterly oceanfront buildings of Las Brisas Condominiums, 3001 S. Atlantic Ave. (3 stories) In Wilbur-By-The-Sea, inspectors determined that at least 25 single-family homes were structurally unsafe following the storm.

Even with state inspectors back at work on Friday, it’s unclear if and when some multi-unit buildings could again be green-lighted for safe occupancy.
