Orlando, Fla. — The state and the defense have rested their case in the first of two murder trials for Markeith Loyd.
Loyd took the stand in his own defense starting Monday claiming he killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend Sade Dixon in self defense.
Prosecutors said Loyd killed Dixon in 2016. A month later, they said, he shot Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton to death to avoid capture.
Closing arguments in the Dixon case will begin Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The jury is done until closing arguments tomorrow morning. Right now Judge Marques is reminding them (again) to STOP TALKING ABOUT THE CASE WHEN THEY LEAVE THE COURTHOUSE.#WFTV #MarkeithLoyd
