20 years later: Murder that led to Amber Alerts is still unsolved

The January, 1996 abduction and slaying of a North Texas girl that led to the creation of the Amber Alert notification system remains unresolved.

Twenty years ago, Dallas area TV and radio stations teamed-up to broadcast alerts after 9 year old Amber Hagerman was grabbed by a man in a black pick-up and driven away.

Four days later a man out walking his dog found her body, her throat slashed, her body severely beaten.

It started in Dallas, and police there say something positive came out of the tragic death of "Arlington's Lil Angel."

More than 700 children have been rescued since 1996 using the Amber Alert notification system.
