Mattel: The first deck of braille UNO cards are on store shelves

Mattel released the first official braille deck of UNO cards Tuesday, making it possible for the blind and those with sight impairments to play the game with sighted people.

The toy manufacturer partnered with the National Federation of the Blind to make the card game more accessible.

At first glance the deck looks the same,  but Braille is printed on the corner of each card in the 112-card deck to identify the color and number.

The company said its packaging also features braille on the front and back for clear identification, and directs players to UNOBraille.com where they can find play instructions.

Players can also access voice-enabled instructions through Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

UNO Braille is exclusively available at Target stores and according to their website will be available for shipping "on or shortly after" October 6, 2019.
