New dashcam video shows police car crash while responding to robbery

New video is surfacing from a 2015 crash involving a Michigan police officer.

As a result of this video, the city of Ypsilanti is being sued over the crash, which caused the driver of a 2001 Nissan to suffer a traumatic brain injury.

Anthony Michael Collins filed suit on April 12 in Washtenaw County against Ypsilanti police officer Ashley Kofahl for injuries he received related to the September 2015 crash.

Today, dashcam video shows Ypsilanti police officer Ashley Kofahl driving in response to a silent alarm call, but the alarm was cancelled and her emergency lights were turned off moments before the crash.

The 2001 Nissan was turning left at Michigan Avenue and Washington Street, having the right of way, before the police officer slams into him.

After an investigation, the officer was found at fault. Collins still plans to sue the city, due to suffering mental anguish, depression, anxiety, humiliation and wage loss due to the gross negligence that caused the crash, according to the lawsuit.
