RUPERT, Idaho — An Idaho man is accused of striking a man with a sledgehammer before fatally shooting him, prosecutors said.
Kalob Wyth Morrison, 33, of Heyburn, was charged with first-degree murder, evidence destruction, alteration or concealment and failure to notify authorities of a death, the Times-News of Twin Falls reported.
He is being held in the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center on $1 million bail, according to online booking records.
Prosecutors said the victim, Julio Lopez, 41, was killed Jan. 2. Prosecutors said Morrison and his brother, Klee Morrison, of Littlefield, Arizona, lured Lopez to Kalob Morrison’s home, the Times-News reported.
Prosecutors said after the brothers killed Lopez, they put the victim’s body in his own vehicle and drove it to a remote area and set it on fire.
Minidoka County Prosecutor Lance Stevenson said Thursday that a warrant for first-degree murder will be issued for Klee Morrison, who is in federal custody in Arizona on a separate matter, the Times-News reported.
