The 67-year-old Hartselle resident, whose name has not been released, was partially stuck in the mud when the trailer flipped onto him, WAAY-TV reported. Deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office were able to free the man and take him to an area hospital, according to WHNT-TV.

A spokesperson for the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency said their organization, along with the sheriff’s office, were told by the man’s family members that the victim suffered serious injuries and died at the hospital, the television station reported.

It was the first death in Alabama attributed to the stong storms and tornadoes that rolled through the mid-South. At least 25 people were killed in western Mississippi when a tornado later classified as an EF-4 storm smashed through the towns of Rolling Fork and Silver City on Friday.

There were at least two dozen tornado reports on Friday across Mississippi and Alabama, according to the National Weather Service.
