Miguel Gonzalez-Rasalas, 36, was arrested Sunday after police found the body of Laura Miller, 35, inside an apartment complex on Southwood Oaks Lane in Charlotte, according to WSOC.

Prosecutors shared details about how Miller was found in court on Tuesday, according to the news outlet. Prosecutors said that a table had all four legs broken off and were reportedly found in the same room as Miller. The table legs were believed to have been used to create three crosses around Miller’s body. Prosecutors said Miller’s body was mutilated and she had multiple burns.

In addition to the crosses around Miller’s body, salt was also found around her, WSOC reported. Police say Miller and Rasalas knew each other but it is unclear how.

Neighbors told the news outlet that they noticed blood dripping outside of the apartment down to the doorstep and had called the police. They also said they heard screaming coming from the apartment the night Miller was murdered.

According to arrest warrants obtained by WSOC, it was learned that Rasalas reportedly stole Miller’s car after she was killed.

Rasalas has been charged with first-degree murder, destroying remains, concealing a death, and auto theft, WSOC reported.
