OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium announced that a new baby elephant has arrived.
In a news release, the zoo announced that its 13-year-old African elephant, Claire, gave birth to a little boy at 9:08 p.m. on Jan. 30. The zoo said both mom and calf are doing well, but they don’t yet know the baby’s weight.
This is the second elephant to be welcomed at the zoo in the last month. A little girl was born to Kiki the elephant on Jan. 7, WOWT reported. Last week, that little girl was named Eugenia.
The zoo posted a video of Eugenia on Facebook, showing the calf as she continued exploring the area.
The two calves are the first elephants born in the zoo’s 125-year history, WOWT reported.
