SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. — A dog walker had to call the police in northeastern Massachusetts Saturday night after a group of coyotes refused to back down after surrounding them.
A Swampscott resident was walking his dog in a suburban neighborhood when a large group of coyotes appeared. Unable to scare them away, he called the Swampscott Police Department to get help, according to WFXT-TV.
According to police, they spotted at least nine coyotes.
“Thankfully, these coyotes appeared to be scared off by the arrival of the cruisers and the strobe lights,” police told WFXT.
The police escorted the man and his dog home following the incident.
The Swampscott Police Department reminded residents to be aware of their surroundings at night when coyotes are most active and posted tips for dealing with coyotes on a Facebook post.
