Suspected arsonist arrested after walking into Los Angeles police station with shopping cart on fire

LOS ANGELES — A woman was arrested Friday after she reportedly walked into a Los Angeles police station with a shopping cart that was on fire.

Police said the woman allegedly brought the burning shopping cart into the lobby of the Los Angeles Southwest station just before midnight on Thursday, KCAL reported.

Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Lt. Letisia Ruiz said the woman was arrested at around 3 a.m. Friday after video footage connected her to the fire, according to the Los Angeles Times. The woman was identified as Mishauna Eaton, 30.

Officers spotted Eaton about four blocks from the police station, the newspaper reported.

Police said Eaton was booked on suspected arson charges. Her bail was set at $250,000, according to KCAL.

The Los Angeles Fire Department’s arson units were called to the station to investigate, KTLA reported.

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said that the fire was put out within 30 minutes, the Times reported.

No injuries were reported, according to KCAL.

Police said the front lobby is closed indefinitely.
