Two years after nearly losing his leg in a freak injury, UCF has announced quarterback McKenzie Milton plans to transfer to another school to finish out his college career.
The announcement was made via Twitter in an emotional video produced by the UCF football program. ESPN is also reporting that Milton has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Milton suffered significant nerve, tendon, and ligament damage in November of 2018, during a game against UCF’s rival USF. Doctors worked tirelessly to save Milton’s leg performing multiple surgeries. His recovery and rehabilitation have been intense and well documented.
In August, Milton was cleared by doctors to play football again. He has been running UCF’s scout team during practice this season and last week there was speculation that he might suit up to play the Bulls. Ultimately, Milton did not take the field during a game this season.
In the video shared Thursday, Milton said he did not want to create a distraction in the Knights’ locker room by competing with friend and teammate Dillon Gabriel for the starting job.
