A Florida wildlife control specialist gained hero status after capturing a 60 pound, eight and a half foot long boa constrictor.
The call for help came in from Lehigh Acres where there was a report of a large snake on the loose.
Scott Flavelle of Scott’s Animal Services posted a video of the snake wrangle on his Facebook page, calling it a “Monster!”
Flavelle says the animal was a non-venomous, red-tailed boa constrictor native to South America.
Don’t be confused, the boa constrictor - which was probably someone’s pet- is different from a python.
Both are large constrictor snakes, meaning they squeeze their prey, but pythons are bigger (the second largest in the world behind the green anaconda) and have more teeth and one more bone in their head.
This red-tailed boa was transported to a new home at Adam’s Animal Encounters in Bokeelia.
