Construction of a barrel house is being halted at Jack Daniel’s distilleries in Tennessee.
A recent lawsuit claims the release of ethanol vapors from the six Tennessee distilleries is causing the growth of black whiskey fungus on nearby property.
Christi Long, who owns an event venue next to six Jack Daniel’s distilleries in Mulberry, Tennessee, filed the suit last week.
Black whiskey fungus is a common occurrence for distilleries that age their alcohol in wooden casks.
Christi says she has spent ten-grand power-washing the fungus from her business and home and claims the planning and zoning department involved in the construction of the distilleries fail “to meet the building requirements for a structure to house a hazardous material.”
